Technician Guide

Technician Quick Start

Use DealQuip for assigned inventory, custody, reconciliation, and field updates without changing organization administration.

1. Sign in

Use the individual email address connected to your DealQuip invitation. Accept the newest invitation, create a password if prompted, and sign in. Do not share credentials with another user.

  • Use Forgot Password if access needs to be recovered.
  • Contact support if the newest invitation or recovery flow does not work.

2. Find equipment in Inventory

Search Inventory using available Asset Numbers, serial numbers, barcodes, QR codes, Manufacturer, Model, status, Site, location, notes, Job Number, or other supported context. Open the matching Asset before taking action.

  • Confirm identifiers and location to avoid updating the wrong Asset.
  • Status badges explain whether an Asset is active, checked out, Needs Service, out of service, or disposed.

3. Check Out an Asset

Open an active, available Asset and choose Check Out Asset. Job Number is required. Job location, expected return, and notes are optional.

  • Only one checkout can be open for an Asset.
  • An Asset that Needs Service, is out of service, disposed, or already checked out cannot begin a new checkout.

4. Check In an Asset

The assigned custodian or an authorized manager-level user can check an Asset in. Add return notes that will help the team understand its condition or next action.

  • Choose the appropriate return condition.
  • A problem return can move the Asset to Needs Service or out of service for follow-up.
  • Custody timestamps and notes remain in history.

5. Complete assigned Reconciliation work

Open the active session and review expected Assets in the order that fits the field work. Record what is found using the available Verified, Missing, Relocated, Needs Review, or Needs Service finding.

  • Do not guess when the equipment or identity is uncertain.
  • Manager review may be required before a proposed change becomes authoritative.

6. View Asset information

Asset Detail brings together supported identity, location, Project membership, photos, documents, service status, custody, history, identifiers, and notes. Available actions depend on the current Asset state and your role.

  • Use photos and documents only for authorized organization work.
  • Flag Needs Service with a useful issue note when equipment needs attention.

7. Understand Technician permission limits

Technicians can complete permitted field and custody work but do not manage organization settings, Team membership, Billing, formal disposal, or other Owner/Administrator controls. Some operational approvals and lifecycle actions require a Manager, Administrator, or Owner.

  • Missing actions may reflect role, plan, Asset state, or organization policy.
  • Report unexpected access rather than attempting to bypass it.

8. Get Help and Support

Open Help & Support for reviewed guidance. Eligible signed-in organizations can use the Help Assistant and support-ticket workflow. For additional assistance, contact support@dealquip.com or call 337-205-3249.

  • Describe what you expected, what happened, and the approximate time.
  • Do not include passwords, tokens, full payment details, or unrelated customer data.
